The other week, I did a fashion shoot. Nothing unusual, I’m a photographer. That’s what we do, right?
However this shoot had no concept, no reason, no grand scheme, I just wanted to shoot something. Unusual for me – usually there’s a story, an angle and loads of planning and prep.
A model friend of mine, Rolien@profile was going away for a bit and I really wanted to shoot her before she went. She’s come out all sexy recently, so that was the angle I wanted to approach it from.
I called Princess Jonas, and asked for his help with make up. He’s also friends with Ro, so said “of course”, He said the bitch (pronounced “Bi-atch”) was in town – meaning stylist Francesca Marotta. She called me about an hour later, to say she had a shoot on Sunday that was really edgy and she would love to try the clothes out. After the Niaid shoot I told her she was a commercial stylist and no good at edgy stuff. This was to be her revenge.
I have a small studio available near where I live, so we all piled in the next night and did a shoot. It was a lot of fun. It was great for the main team: me, Jonas, Francesca and Ro, to work together again. But our total team was ten. We did sexy edgy nudie stuff, big clothes. Movement.
It’s a small studio so I lit it with 1k tungsten fresnel, that gave me control, as the studio is too small to allow flash light fall-off.
Here’s some behind-the-scenes stuff, I can’t publish the finished pictures yet, because they need to go to the magazines. As soon as we decide who’s going to put them out, we’ll let you know.
